LOGS’ Role

Here is a History and a detailed look at what brought LOGS into being:

Lebanese Organization for Green Schools  “LOGS”  is an organization that came to existence in July 2015. It is a non-political, non-sectarian, independent, incorporated Lebanese NGO, based in Beirut.

The founders believe that creating change through education is the best way to make a difference. School is a natural and ideal place to learn, raise environmental awareness, build habits and citizenship values. Students make up one quarter of the entire Lebanese population, and they spend fifteen years of their lives at school. A lot can be acheived during this period. Education for sustainable development enables both students and schools to learn ethics that value people and nature by making it a fundamental part of daily life.

LOGS is a philosophy and approach to humanity, education, and the environment that can sow the seeds for a better tomorrow.

The scope of the work undertaken uses a top down approach, starting with training administrators and staff regarding green practices.  All major departments such as languages, mathematics, sciences and humanities are involved.  We assist schools in establishing their own environmental clubs to address issues while working within each schools’ individual culture.  We conduct awareness sessions for the students.  Furthermore, LOGS turns the school building itself into a living proof of concept and a learning tool.  Our approach also trains schools in financials savings through implementation of greener approaches to waste management, power, water and physical plants.

We believe that the children of Lebanon can make a change and build a better future.
